Position Vacancies

 

Chief Financial Officer - City of Washington, NC,

located on inner banks area of the Pamlico Sound, Population 9,938; County population 45,000 
Annual operating budget $70.8 million including electric & six enterprise funds. CFO functions as Assistant City Manager & will have a staff of seventeen including the following functions:  accounting, utility billing, utility customer service, purchasing, & revenue collections.  Successful candidate will have proven track record as director of finance in governmental entity or in private sector with large budgetary, supervisory, & management responsibilities; understanding of sophisticated financial software systems; ability to analyze and develop strategic initiatives from financial, budgeting and accounting matters; understanding of NC or governmental laws & regulations as related to public finance administration.  Four year college degree in Accounting or Business required.  Masters of Public Administration or MBA &/or CPA  preferred.

Police Officer - Police

  
Performs general duty law enforcement work to protect life and property in the City.  Work includes patrolling the City during assigned shift in a police car or on foot; preventing, detecting and investigating disturbances and crime; performing traffic control work; apprehending suspects; and executing related assignments.  High school graduate or equivalent.  Possession of a Basic Law Enforcement Certification or currently enrolled in training program.  Valid NC driver’s license. Thorough background investigation.  Physical exam, psychological exam and drug screen required.  

    
Hiring range $31,085 - $43,815 depending upon qualifications, plus benefits,with 5% pay increase after successful completion of 12-month probationary period.
