Job Summary

  • Manages daily operations at aquatic and fitness center
  • Responsible for safety and cleanliness of center
  • Schedules, trains, evaluates staff, and participates in hiring process
  • Ensures proper maintenance of the pool and building; including pumps, chemicals, safety equipment and air system
  • Oversees office administration; including money collection, customer service and billing
  • Prepares and maintains facility budget
  • Creates and coordinates community programming, including marketing
  • Previous aquatic, instructor and/or supervisory experience preferred
  • Graduation with a four year degree in recreation administration, physical education; or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Certified Pool Operator
  • Certified Lifeguard with First Aid
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer

PT Lifeguard

Job Summary

  • Responsibilities include ensuring the education and enforcement of water safety and responding to emergencies
  • Involves daily cleaning tasks, interacting with the public, chemical testing and computer use
  • May be asked to assist in teaching swim lessons and other community activities.
  • Requires current American Red Cross Lifeguard and CPR/AED/First Aid for the Professional Rescuer certifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • $7.42/hr - $10.99/hr.
  • various shifts, typically less than 20 hours a week

PT Civic Center Event Coordinator

  • Coordinates rental and use of the Civic Center
  • Schedules events and manages contract paperwork
  • Conducts facility tours
  • Initiates sales to local companies for facility usage for meetings; schedules staff according to event needs
  • Advises renters on equipment rental, florists, caterers and other service providers for events
  • Advises on needed permits such as ABC permits and assures permits are in place before events
  • Maintains online availability calendar
  • High school with some training or experience in hospitality management and/or facility management work; or considerable public contact experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • NCDL required
  • $10.98/hr. - $16.25/hr.
  • 25 hours per week with variable work schedule; some evening and weekend work may be required

PT Civic Center Custodian

  • Must be able to perform manual labor involving a variety of building maintenance tasks including cleaning floors, windows, restrooms, emptying trash, sweeping decks and sidewalk, picking up trash on grounds and breaking down and setting up tables and chair
  • High school graduate or GED.
  • $7.42 - $10.99
  • Variable work schedule 8-10 hours or less per week primarily weekend and evening work

Police Officer

  • Performs general duty law enforcement work to protect life and property in the City. Work includes patrolling the City during assigned shift in a police car or on foot; preventing, detecting and investigating disturbances and crime; performing traffic control work; apprehending suspects; and executing related assignments.
  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Basic Law Enforcement Certification or currently enrolled in BLET.
  • NC Driver License
  • $15.45/hr. - $22.87/hr.
